My name is Shoya Ishiguro, one of the staff members at CarpeDiem Mita. I started BJJ as a hobby when I was 12 years old. At some point, I got deep into it and decided to become a competitor. I used to compete in the rooster weight division, which is the lightest division. That was why I kept refining the type of techniques that could work regardless of size difference. My motto when it comes to teaching BJJ is to share the greatness of BJJ with many people. Thank you.
My favorite techniques
Guard passes, reverse Delariva guard, x guard, and z guard.
Hobby
Studying nutrition, cooking, and workout
Why I started BJJ
My father liked Pride, an MMA event, and was watching it on TV with me. I was impressed by the scene in which a small BJJ fighter was submitting his bigger opponent, so I started BJJ. Thank you.
